Features
Responsible body Department of the Environment of the Xunta de Galicia (Galicia’s regional government) Resource description Aloia is an attractive site with good climate and rich nature. It is a green hill with a subsoil of granite that has been used for defence, religious, forestry and recreational purposes throughout its history. The first natural park of Galicia, it shares its location with a river passing at the foot of the hill just before it meets the sea.The park is located to the north of Portugal in one of the most densely populated areas of Galicia, which makes it a great place for environmental education. The house built in 1921 by Rafael Areses is used today as a visitor centre.
On clear days, Aloia offers breathtaking views. It is the background of many open-air leisure activities, the most noteworthy being hiking, as it is part of a network of routes of the region of Baixo Miño that passes through the city of Vigo.
