Christopher Columbus House Museum

In Porto Santo, in the parish of San Salvador de Poio, you can find the ruins of Casa da Cruz, known as the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, which have been restored and turned into a museum. They belonged to the Columbus family in the Middle Ages and there you can embark on a tour about the theory that Columbus was Galician.

Redwood forest

Also known as Columbus Forest, it is one of the biggest redwood forests in Europe. It dates back to 1992, to the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s arrival in the Americas. The American government gave Spain 500 redwood specimens as a symbol of brotherhood between the Old and the New World.

The municipalities of Meis and Ribadumia host several food festivals, so we encourage you to come and enjoy the Tripe Stew Festival (in the village of Mosteiro), the traditional egg bread loaf made with over 6,000 eggs that holds a Guinness World Record award (in the village of Paradela), or the Barrantes Red Wine Festival (in the village of Barrantes).

Aldea Labrega

Aldea Labrega is a sculptural ensemble made by the Stone Cutting School of the Deputación de Pontevedra. This beautiful ensemble is located in a spectacular natural environment belonging to the Serén Watermills Route.

Pazo de Señoráns

The manor house Pazo de Señoráns, now turned into a winery, is a magnificent example of a 16thcentury traditional family seat, which were built in the countryside displaying the charm and grace of old times. The homeowners were ahead of their time: 25 years ago, they trusted the nobility of albariño wine and bet on age-worthy wines (those that possess the essential characteristics to age after being bottled) with very good results.
