Conjunto histórico-artístico de Combarro
The picturesque Historical-Artistic Site of Combarro is built directly on the granite ground by the sea and it represents the essence of traditional Galician architecture. It is hidden by the Ría de Pontevedra estuary and it retains an urban structure and architectural style characteristic of the 18th and 19th centuries. It is defined by three fundamental elements: the hórreos (traditional raised granaries), the cruceiros (Calvary crosses) and the fishermen’s houses. The hórreos’ presence displays a great blend of agriculture and livestock farming with fishing practices. There are more than 30 hórreos in Combarro, the majority of which are located by the sea. It is one of the most beautiful and representative towns of Galicia.
