This forest covers an area of 1,080 hectares in the valley of the Arnego River. It contains many centuries-old cork oaks that can reach up to 25 metres. They are only present in Galicia in sheltered river valleys and are usually accompanied by other oaks. There is a path with some mills and a recreational area near the forest.

Native aquatic flora and fauna The most common fish species in this river are the bogue and the bermejuela.Located in Arnego and Toiriz (Vila de Cruces); Brocos, Brántega, Carmoega, Belpellos, Vilariño, Esperante and Gurgueiro (A Golada); Galegos, Rodís, Cadrón, Parada, Muimenta and A Veiga (Lalín) Native terrestrial flora and fauna Flora includes cork oaks, oks and riparian vegetation. Fauna consists of the common kingfisher, dipper, scops owl, golden oriole, gold-striped salamander, Iberian emerald lizard and dragonfly. There are otters and bats too.
