Galician Pazo built by the architect Genaro de la Fuente. The politician and lawyer Montero Ríos lived here. It has 54 ha of land, split among garden, estate and woodlands, with almost 2,000 different species. In its beginnings, around the 15th century, this Pazo was a farm. In the 19th century the property was acquired by the politician Eugenio Montero Ríos, who turned it into a summer residence and also a major meeting place for the most influential people of the time. The rooms here witnessed the Paris Treaty, which gave up the islands of Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Guam. It has a large botanical Garden of particular interest, with indigenous and foreign species, and also houses the Environmental and Forestry Research Centre of Lourizán, the main purpose of which is the protection, preservation and progress of Galicia’s forestry heritage
