Museo de Pontevedra - edificio Castelao
This building is a recent 10,000 m2 extension of the provincial museum with permanent and temporary exhibition rooms, restoration workshops, an auditorium with capacity for 240 people and a café. It was built in 2004 to the design of architects Eduardo Pesquera and Jesús Ulargui, who won a tender put out by the Provincial Council of Pontevedra. In its twenty-three permanent exhibition rooms, visitors can explore the evolution of Galician art from the Gothic period to the present day, as well as forms of artistic expression created in other parts of Spain from the time of Goya up to the mid-20th century.
