The original building was carried out during the early years of Christianism between the 4th and 5th centuries. It was later expanded during the 12th century, using the Romanesque style and preserving its primitive aspect, erased definitively during the subsequent reformation works. During this restoration, they discovered a Roman altar dedicated to the god Mercury, from the 1st century, and a Suebi necropolis. Nearby the chapel, almost buried by the vegetation, there is a medieval sarcophagus. According to the legends, this chapel may have been the place where the renowned Priscillian was buried.
