This impressive Neoclassical sanctuary was built in the 18th century by master builder Melchor Ricoy. It was ordered by Joaquín Espes, a parish priest from Valencia, and funded by Marian devotes.
The architectural style of this building blends in with the area and has impressive elements such as the dome and the tower with balconies that ends in capitals (the tallest in the region). Also noteworthy are the murals created by painter Jorge Calvo in 1773 and the statues dedicated to Saint Joachim and Saint Joseph, made by Gambino (1722-1775), a sculptor from Santiago.
