This cloistered convent was founded in 1547 by M. Fernández Acuña and is still inhabited by the Dominican Order. Built on top of another building from the 13th century, the convent is one of the most symbolic buildings of the Historic-Artistic Site of Baiona.
It is composed of a chapel, a garden, a farmstead and the convent itself. The chapel has a Baroque altarpiece adorning the high altar dedicated to the Virgin of the Annunciation, patron of Baiona. The convent is a simple building made of solid granite ashlar masonry. Its beautiful Plateresque-style church is decorated with Acanthus leaves and has large columns and niches containing the statues of saints.
