It is a Romanesque church from the 12th century that belonged to an old mixed monastery mentioned in documents as far as the 10th century.
It is a work of great beauty, with sober lines and made of granite. It is considered by many as a clear example of the Galician Romanesque style and one of the most beautiful buildings of the region in that style.
During the 15th century, the old monastery was transformed into a pazo, the Pazo of Sobrán, still standing very near the church nowadays. We must highlight the main portal, over which we see two bodies, one with a large window and another with a rose window, as well as a lateral bell tower.
