Isla de A Toxa
A Toxa is the most well-known Galician Atlantic island. It is located to the west of the town of O Grove and connected to it by a 19th-century bridge. The island has an area of 110 hectares, which were pasture land until hot springs and healing waters were discovered there. This resulted in the creation of a spa, which increased tourism and other services.
Today it is a thermal area dedicated to leisure and tourism. It includes spas, old soap and beauty products factories, luxury hotels, a golf course, marina, convention centre, casino, tennis and paddle court, skeet, archery, swimming pools, residential areas, a shopping centre and other establishments. Additionally, there is a virgin pine forest in the centre of the island.
