This hydrological resource is registered as a wetland and catalogued under the name of Outeiro da Vila in the Inventory of Galician Wetlands.
Its basin was the old quarry of Catoira, which ended up turning into a natural paradise. Enjoying this landscape is such a privilege; it is the perfect example of to what extent nature is capable of evolving and regenerating itself in such a special manner, as it looks like the lake has always been there.
Nowadays it is almost completely surrounded by excavation and levelling works and the service ways related to the construction of the high-velocity train.
