The archaeological site of Monte do Castro is situated on a 110-metre hill between the parishes of Leiro and Besomaño. It is a fortified settlement of Iron Age date and evidence indicates that it was occupied from the 4th century BCE to the 1st century CE. Thirteen huts, a large house with a yard, outer walls and thousands of objects were uncovered from the site during excavations in 2011.
