This gate is named after inquisitor Bartolomé Barbeito e Padrón’s house, built in 1688. It is what remains of a school and a resting home for the clergy and the poor.
The gate is divided into two horizontal sections. On the bottom section of the gate there is a semicircular arch formed by voussoirs, while on the top section there are three coats of arms next to an inscription from 1688. The left coat of arms pertains to Barbeito e Padrón's paternal ancestry; the right one, to his maternal ancestry; and the centre one, to his position as inquisitor.
The site has recently been restored, so it is very well preserved.
