Pazo de Padriñán was built in the first half of the 18th century by José Sarmiento Valladares, last viceroy of Mexico during the Habsburg rule and first during the Bourbon’s. This baroque-style manor house has a rectangular floor plan and a tower with battlements and pinnacles that barely stands above the roof.
In the gardens there is an hórreo (traditional raised granary) and a dovecote, both made of stone. The word ‘patronem’ describes the rocky ground on which the house is situated, but it has managed to maintain its architectural grandeur, even after the works and alterations that took place this century. As an aside, it is very similar to the Pazo de Miraflores, also in Sanxenxo, except for the iron balconies that adorn the façade.
Presently it belongs to the Acuña family and to Mr Antonio González Quinteiro.
