This protected natural area is located in the north of the municipality of A Illa de Arousa. It consists of an isle of nine hectares almost completely covered in fine sand. This gives it the appearance of a dune emerging from the sea, particularly in the north part. The south part has an area of grass vegetation amongst the sand that is surrounded by a reef. There stand the remains of a megalithic dolmen.
