This site, also known as Carballeira de Quiroga, has a series of very important, unique and beautiful botanical features, particularly considering that a large part of it is a mixed forest of oaks and chestnut trees, some of them considered among the best of Europe due to their size. Some of the trees can reach a height of 30 metres, meaning they are among the tallest in Europe, and a diameter of around five metres. A project to clone these trees to repopulate other areas is planned due to their resistance. Additionally, the path that connects this area to the pazo of Quiroga (a traditional manor house) inspired writer Emilia Pardo Bazán to pen her novel The House of Ulloa.
