The former canning factory of Massó was part of a large industrial complex that included, beside the cannery, a whale processing plant, different workshops, staff housing and a nursery. The building of the factory began in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, and it was opened in 1941. The factory closed definitively in 1996 and has remained ever since in a semi-abandoned state.
