Casa (‘house’) has two meanings in rural Galicia. The first is the building where a family lives as a productive and reproductive space, as well as the extension of the family who lives there, from the ancestors to the future members. The second is the place where one works for the economic well-being of the family. It is the smallest part of a community, lower than the town and the parish in the social hierarchy of an area. O Quinteiro de Temperán is an old farming house that mirrors the rural Galicia of the 18th century and today operates as an ethnographic museum that explores agriculture.
