This spa dates back to the times of Pedro Acuña y Malvar in the 19th century, who was a priest and a former Secretary of the Ministry of Mercy and Justice during the reign of King Charles IV. He established a bathhouse in 1812 designed by architect Melchor de Prado y Mariño, although he only built the first body of the building. After he passed away, businessman Elisardo Domínguez started a new building designed by architect Jenaro de La Fuente. Nowadays, the main building, which has five floors and an attic, is the result of a modern restoration in 2007.
