The Santa Teresa church was built between 1856 and 1884. The church tower was built in 1902. The temple is formed by three naves that give it a great monumental aspect. Inside the enclosure there is a quadrangular space with a hipped roof, where the altar and the altarpieces are located. Next to this space there is an area for the sacristy. The church’s walls are made of granite and the cover is made of tiles. The bell tower is located on the central part of the façade and was built by the renowned stonemason Xosé Martínez Cabrita, born in Petán. We must also highlight an image of Santa Teresa on the façade of the church, which characterises it as a distinctive element. The festivity of Santa Teresa is celebrated every year on 15th October. She is the patron saint of A Cañiza.
