Revamped for rural tourism, the Pazo made up an impressive walled building, with a large interior courtyard and solaina. Its origins hark back to the 16th century, and in 1579 Alonso Nuñez de Taboada, the first owner of Casas de Bendoiro, ordered the arms of the Taboada and Churruchaos "from whom I come and from whom I descend" to be placed in his tomb. On the oval shield over the main entrance are the arms of the Taboada, Arias, Camba, López de Lemos and Churruchaos families
