Located in one of the highest areas of the municipality of Cerdedo Cotobade, A Soldada Viewpoint offers impressive panoramic views over the mountain ranges and valleys that shape the landscape of inland Pontevedra province. This natural site overlooks a territory dominated by granite mountains, extensive forests and small villages that preserve the essence of rural Galicia.
The viewpoint takes its name from the emblematic rock formation known as A Soldada, a distinctive granite figure sculpted by erosion that has become one of the area's most recognisable landmarks. Its characteristic silhouette and the local legends associated with it add cultural and ethnographic interest to the visit.
From this privileged natural balcony, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the Candán and Cando mountain ranges, as well as the valleys connecting the inland districts of Pontevedra. The richness of its natural surroundings makes it an ideal destination for hiking, nature observation and landscape photography.
Sunrise and sunset are particularly spectacular here, when the light highlights the contours of the landscape and transforms the horizon into a stunning natural spectacle. The tranquillity and silence of the area create a genuine sense of connection with nature.
As night falls, the viewpoint reveals another of its greatest attractions. Low levels of light pollution and wide open horizons make this an exceptional location for stargazing.
For this reason, A Soldada Viewpoint is part of the “Baixo o Ceo das Rías Baixas” Astrotourism Network, which highlights some of the finest places in the province of Pontevedra for observing the night sky. Nature, geological heritage and astronomy come together here to create an unforgettable experience beneath the stars..
