The name of this hotel originates from the Island of A Toxa, which was previously known as Island of Louxo. It is a spa, leisure and tourist centre that became a sought-after destination in the 19th century for the great richness and luxury of the area, where many illustrious figures had their summer residences. The area was declared a Centre of National Tourist Interest in 1966. It has preserved the magic that made it famous, thanks in part to the beautiful nature and calm surroundings, which invite visitors to relax and enjoy the wide range of activities it provides. This spa hotel was the first thalassotherapy centre in Galicia.
