The San Juán church in Tirán is of Romanesque style and was possibly built during the 13th century. The reason why we think that is the decoration style, which denotes a later period, the transition to the Gothic style, in the pointed arches of the portal. It is located over a rocky cliff against which the sea crashes and from where you can see the Ría de Vigo. The sepulchre of the illustrious Pontevedra-native José María Castroviejo is located in the atrium.
