The Eira da Pena ethnographic unit includes a half dozen granaries, although in the remote past there used to be more. All the granaries preserved have been refurbished. The surroundings comprise farming fields and, in the distance, the visitor can see eucalyptus woods. Generally speaking, the surrounding area is well looked after. The threshing floors are groups of stone granaries that are normally greater in number, in the sierras of O Suído, Candán and Faro de Avión, in villages, in most cases, made up of adjoining houses or houses very close to each other, where it is possible to place the granary next to the house. The group of stone granaries is linked with the communal threshing floors that belong to a collective property and their use is subject to a shift system established by the neighbours
