Accessible tourism means being able to enjoy environments, infrastructures, facilities and services in equal conditions, with autonomy and safety for everyone.

It is necessary that everyone who visits the Rías Baixas destination can enjoy a tourist experience, regardless of their characteristics and/or personal needs.

A tourist offer that in its design has taken into account customers with greater difficulties, will result in a better product for all tourists and residents because Accessibility is synonymous with Quality.

From the Rías Baixas Tourism Service of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra we understand that an accessible management is a long-term commitment of the destination and affects the whole chain of the tourist experience.

The first contact a user has with a tourist destination is through the information and welcome service, both online and in person, which is why our web portal complies with the accessibility guidelines on content to reduce barriers to access to information.

The Rías Baixas destination has a network of INFO RIASBAIXAS information offices that are the point of reference for tourists and visitors when it comes to getting to know our destination. Any tourist information office and/or point that wishes to join the INFO RIAS BAIXAS Network must comply with a series of minimum services and characteristics, including compliance with:

  • Royal Legislative Decree 1/2013 of 29 November, which approves the revised text of the General Law on the rights of persons with disabilities and their social inclusion.

  • Law 10/2014 of 3 December on Accessibility in Galicia.

  • Royal Decree 505/2007 of 20 April, approving the basic conditions of accessibility and non-discrimination for people with disabilities for access to and use of public urban spaces and buildings.

  • Order VIV/561/2010 of 1 February, which develops the technical document of basic conditions of accessibility and non-discrimination for access and use of urbanised public spaces.

Likewise, the customer service is a determining factor in assessing the level of satisfaction of visitors and residents, and therefore the INFO RIASBAIXAS Network has technological tools that facilitate tourist information from a physical, cognitive and sensory point of view, such as Braille printers, magnetic loops, audio guides, video guides with sign language, etc.

The establishments of the Rías Baixas destination are committed to quality and excellence in service, without any kind of discrimination, and therefore rely on quality marks such as SICTED (Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destination) and the Q Mark for Tourist Quality to comply with the characteristics of accessibility that must be taken into account for all users to have their own autonomy, comfort and safety.

From the Rías Baixas Tourism Service of the Pontevedra Provincial Council we collaborate with other local public administrations to watch over, care for and promote our province, and so that residents and visitors can live a Rías Baixas experience without any kind of limitation or barrier.
