Eira Grande is composed of a series of hórreos (traditional raised granaries) arranged around a square in the vicinity of the parish church, as well as a cruceiro (‘stone cross’) and a calvary. The eiras are collections of hórreos normally found on a larger scale in the mountains of O Suído, Candán or Faro de Avión. In most cases they are in towns with adjoining terraced or semi-detached houses, where placing an hórreo next to the home is not possible. These hórreos belong to collective communal spaces and they are used on a rotation basis between neighbours. The square is occupied by some adjoining farmhouses, a fountain, the cruceiro, the calvary and some native trees. The surroundings are very charming and offer a unique example of rural Galicia.
