Cerdedo Cotobade

The Cotobade Astronomical Observatory, managed by the Sirio Association, is a space dedicated to scientific outreach and the promotion of astronomy, offering visitors unique experiences of sky observation.

Located in a rural area with low light pollution, the observatory provides exceptional conditions for stargazing. Its setting allows access to relatively dark skies, increasingly rare and highly valued for observing stars, planets, and various astronomical phenomena.

The centre is mainly focused on educational and outreach activities, offering observation sessions, workshops, and science-based experiences for the general public as well as school groups. In this way, it becomes a meeting point between science and direct experience of the night sky.

Integrated into the municipality’s nature tourism offer, the observatory adds a distinctive value to Cotobade’s rich ethnographic and landscape heritage, strengthening its identity as a destination for scientific tourism.
