The Lagares River is the main watercourse in the municipality of Vigo. It originates in the Mol lagoon near the village of La Retorta in the parish of Cabral (Vigo), where its source forms a small pond from which its course begins. With a beautiful riverside walk, it extends across the entire southern part of the municipal area, from east to west, passing through the parishes of Candeán, Cabral, and Castrelos until it flows into the Vigo estuary at the southern end of the well-known Samil beach, where it forms a large marshy area.
