Lago de Castiñeiras s/n
Pontevedra
Spain

Originally, it was an artificial lake created in the 50s, but, at present, it is an interesting nature park where you can go on a tour. Some of the most abundant tree species found there are the northern red oaks, birches, eucalyptuses, Australian blackwoods (some centenarian), and the chestnut trees (castiñeiros in Galician) that gave the lake its name. There is also a riverbank forest around the stream that feeds into the lake, with species such as willows, alders, hazelnuts, and some exotic species as bald cypresses, native to Florida, and Brazilian pines. This space also shelters a significant colony of birds and has two hides for birdwatching, one of them in the forested area and the other nearby the lake.
