Metropolitan Pavilion. San Luis Pavilion

Located in the centre of O Porriño, the Metropolitan Pavilion, known as the San Luis Pavilion, is one of the most distinctive works of the Galician architect Antonio Palacios. Designed between 1918 and 1919 as the monumental entrance to the Gran Vía station of the Madrid Metro, this elegant structure of granite, iron and glass transformed a simple subway entrance into a landmark of early twentieth-century urban architecture.

After being dismantled in Madrid in 1970, the pavilion was moved to O Porriño, the architect's hometown, where it found a new location and became part of the town's architectural heritage.
