This viewpoint is located at the top of the Monte Lobeira hill and offers views over the entire estuary of Arousa.
The area is the backdrop to many great stories and legends, like the settlement of a community, known as Castrum Lupariae, a few centuries BCE.
Later, a defensive fortress was built in the Middle Ages, which was key during the conflict between Queen Urraca and Archbishop Gelmirez. Unfortunately, it ended up destroyed after the Irmandiño revolts against the nobility, and nature took care of the remains of the old fortress.
In 1869, the peak was topped by a large metallic cross in honour of the people who disappeared in the shipwreck of the Serpent, an English vessel. The inscription also indicates that it is dedicated to anyone who has disappeared in these waters.
Today the area is full of myths and legends, and it is an ideal place to enjoy panoramic views over O Salnés valley and the estuary of Arousa.
