In 1737, the marriage between José Alvarez and Teresa de Cuevas laid the foundation and primogeniture of the so-called Pumar de Cuco-Ruxo. This was confirmed, in October 1763, by the Infantry Lieutenant of the Regiment of the Military Service of Tui, Mauricio Antonio Rivera, the first to inherit the same. He not only refurbished the properties that were in a ruinous state of repair on his return from the campaigns against the Portuguese, but also extended these properties once he had been able to gain recognition of both the properties as well as the ancestral heritage. The current ancestral home is a relatively recent building the forms part of the former entailed estate of the Cuco-Ruxo, to which three properties were associated. This Pazo has all the comforts of a modern building; its square-shaped floor-plan is divided into two different heights, along with the classic tower which, crowned with a battlement, occupies one of the angles. A façade with many windows through which the light from the big valley penetrates, a valley that can be viewed from the balcony that acts as a wonderful vantage point. On the north and east sides of the building, there are secondary properties that lead off from an enclosed and very cosy courtyard, which may in turn be accessed through an entrance made on the front of the property, in the shape of a large door embellished with neoclassical moulds of the age
