The name of this beach (‘Beach of the Friars’) comes from the friars of a Franciscan convent in the Fortress of Monterreal who used to swim there. They accessed the sandy area through a door on the outer wall that is still preserved, even though the convent disappeared in the mid-19th century. The beach is windy, with clear waters and coarse sand.
