Archaeological site
Beyond its beauty and the impressive views it offers over the coastal villages of Arousa and the bateas, Areoso is an archaeological powerhouse. The excavations carried out have brought to light one of the most important archaeological sites in Galicia. The island has uncovered a total of five megalithic monuments and five stone box structures. There is evidence of Bronze Age and Neolithic occupation.
