The origin of this settlement is thought to be around the 8th century BCE. It is possibly one of the oldest in Galicia, as it dates from the Iron Age.
The settlement has a stone wall on its northern side, part of which is still preserved. On the contrary, the steepness of the southern side gave the land a natural defensive character.
The castro has three terraces, facing the north and east, located close together.
The remains that were found in the area (such as spindles, wool, linen, grindstones, metal pieces and ceramic fragments) indicate that it might have been inhabited for more than a thousand years. Furthermore, the ceramic remains suggest it maintained commercial relationships with some Mediterranean villages.
The settlement is approximately 376 metres above sea level, which makes it a great vantage point to the Ría de Vigo.
