Land
A world of flavours
Rías Baixas produces fantastic quality meats and vegetables
A land of enormous fertility and wealth, a formidable landscape, a thousand-year-old heritage and a deep-rooted culture handed down from generation to generation. With these ingredients, the province of Pontevedra is a unique place, ideal for unforgettable experiences with the Rías Baixas seal of approval.
Cultivated fields, rivers, forests and vineyards on the hillsides, plains and on the seashore produce the impressive raw material for the gastronomy of this destination, which serves as a common thread for a journey of flavours that satiates all five senses. Thermalism, with roots in Roman times; the fascinating pazos, some of them with Versaillesque gardens; the Camellia Route, the flower of the Rías Baixas; or the journey through the spiritual heritage with impressive monasteries inland and on the coast, promise great experiences for travellers.

In recent years A Estrada has seen a strong revival of the cider industry. The Cider Route offers an interesting tour of cider presses and plantations.
The green meadows, the weather conditions and the fantastic orography of Galicia in general and of the inland regions of As Rías Baixas in particular have been key to the prominent role of livestock farming in this destination. This, together with the good work, open-air rearing and a good diet, has resulted in excellent quality beef, sheep, poultry and pork from this area.
Nicanor. A life dedicated to the secrets of the interior of the province Nicanor Portas is from Lalín, he is 90 years old and has an overwhelming energy. He keeps the secret of such a long and fruitful life to himself, but he reveals to us the life in the interior of the province of Pontevedra. For example, the traditional way of cooking chestnuts? Is this something to do with it?
