Beautiful and fruit-rich forests
Chestnuts, mushrooms and other products grow in the mountains of Rías Baixas
Nature has been more than generous with As Rías Baixas. The heart of the province is home to lush forests of intense green where native trees coexist with other species in natural spaces of great beauty.
One of the most representative landscapes of Galicia is its chestnut forests. In the province of Pontevedra, the areas where Galician chestnuts are harvested are the regions of Tabeirós-Terra de Montes and Deza; and the municipalities of Cerdedo-Cotobade, A Lama, Campo Lameiro and Cuntis. The mountains of the Fraga de Catasós in Lalín or the O Candán mountain range are some of the areas where chestnut picking can be combined with mushroom picking.

Specifically, in Lalín there is an important production of chestnuts, a complementary activity for families involved in livestock farming. This town, together with the other municipalities that make up the Deza region, is included in the Protected Geographical Indication of Galician Chestnuts.
Especially tasty is the honey from As Rías Baixas, also with a seal of quality (PGI) and the product of the meticulous work of the beekeepers of this land.
