A day to experience the charm of the region of O Baixo Miño

O Rosal, A Guarda and Oia: sports, a magnificent monastery by the sea and stunning Albariño wineries

Kayaking and hiking along the Tamuxe River

10:00

We suggest two different ways to visit this unique area: kayaking or walking along the banks of the rivers Miño and Tamuxe to end up at the extraordinary natural area around the watermill of As Aceñas, where you can go for a nice swim surrounded by a beautiful landscape. The walking trail is linear, and along its 7.5 km of length, you can find islands and a great variety of fauna

Visit to the seaside town of A Guarda

12:30

A Guarda, with its marina, its streets and the scent of the sea, is a picturesque seaside town that you will surely love. The main square Praza do Reló, the Church of Santa María, the Benedictine Monastery, its casas indianas (homes of former migrants who returned from America to their hometowns) and the remains of the medieval walls are some of the places in the town that are worth visiting.

Lunch in A Guarda

14:30

This town is popular for its fine cuisine linked to the sea. The star dish is the delicious lobster, with its own festival, which is declared of Tourist Interest in Galicia.

A winery belonging to the subzone of O Rosal

16:30

Albariño white wine is produced in five subzones that cover from the Portuguese border to the limit with Santiago de Compostela. This area corresponds to the subzone of O Rosal. There, you should visit some of its wineries, where you can taste the influences and nuances of the Loureira grape, which is little known but very tasty.

Visit to the Monastery of Oia

19:00

In the evening, you can admire one of the gems of O Baixo Miño's heritage. The construction of the Monastery of Oia started in the 12th century and it belonged to the Cistercian order. It has Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque elements. Built on the seafront, on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, it is a beautiful spot. It was declared Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) in 1931.
