O Condado-A Paradanta
In the southeast of the province of Pontevedra you can find a beautiful and lovely nature area with many interesting spots. This destination, by the rivers Miño and Tea, can be visited all year around. The Count and Countess of Salvaterra gave the name to this region, which evidences the noble origin of the area. One of the most popular routes is the Camiño da Raíña (Queen’s way). Queen Urraca used to walk this path to get from Castile to the Monastery of A Franqueira and the Sobroso Castle.
This region combines natural and fortified heritage and is a perfect place for hiking. The hills of Covelo are surrounded by mills, oak groves and old chapels in a landscape filled with magic. It is worth visiting its viewpoints, which offer stunning views over the province. Among them, the one in Fontefría, in the town of A Cañiza, stands out.
In the towns of Crecente and Arbo, you can admire the Miño River and the pesqueiras, typical stone constructions used to catch the lamprey, and visit any of the wineries of the subzone of O Condado, under the Designation of Origin Rías Baixas.
