The first stop is the Monastery of San Pedro, in the place of Vilanova de Dozón, founded in the 12th century by Doña Guntroda Suárez, according to the inscription on the wall of the apse. This is a late Romanesque monastery (12th-13th centuries) with a church of the same style that has been perfectly preserved. Moreover, it is surrounded by a stunning landscape.

Its frescoes are considered the best painting collection of the Galician Renaissance. Enter and discover its inside walls, covered with paintings by the so-called master of the Sixto, and dated in 1522 according to an inscription. Here you can admire in detail its scenes from the Passion of Christ and the portraits of King Charles V and Isabella of Portugal.

The Silver Way towards Compostela runs through this area. This Romanesque bridge, built in 912, used to be part of the Royal Road that connected the cities of Santiago de Compostela and Ourense. It became inoperative in the second half of the 19th century, and today it is only crossed by pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.

Game meat has always been very popular in the village of Rodeiro. It is a tradition that has been probably inherited from the noble families of the area. We recommend you stop here to taste local seasonal dishes, such as wild boar, quails or venison, always cooked over a low heat and rich in flavour.

Although you can reach the top of the Faro Hill -at 1,188 m above sea level- by car, we recommend you to climb up to the peak of the province of Pontevedra on foot. The Lighthouse Route, included in the list of short routes of the Galician Mountaineering Federation, provides excellent views of the region.
