Hunger for experiencies completes its tour of the internacional Cifft tourism video festivals with 12 awards and votes from 41 countries

The film of the Deputación de Pontevedra has been recognised in 11 of the major events of the circuit, which has reached 250 million people around the world

In 2020, the destination Rías Baixas-province of Pontevedra has taken a big step forward in its international promotion, after the successful tour of Hunger for Experiences around the festivals that are part of the Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) Circuit, the most important worldwide event in the travel film marketing industry.

The film of the Deputación de Pontevedra, which pays tribute to the producers of the province, produced by Esmerarte Industrias Creativas, has been recognised in 11 festivals of the circuit. The last award  was the World's Best Film in the category of Tourism Product in the World's Best Film Awards of the CIFFT. Besides this outstanding list of awards, the film received a thirteenth international prize in January, when it was recognised as Best Film for the Promotion of Spanish Tourism Products at the FITUR Travel Film & Video 2020, which was not part of the CIFFT circuit.

In addition, Hunger for Experiences received votes from 41 countries in the popular vote organised by the CIFFT to give the People's Choice Award, in which the audience choose the winning films. The film of the Deputación de Pontevedra reached the fourth place, obtaining 5.8% of the votes. Hunger for Experiences was watched 28,000 times on the social network Vimeo, from where people could watch and vote the film.

The Grand Prix CIFFT provides support to promote the image of the tourism destinations that participate with their works in the circuit of festivals. It reaches 250 million people from 166 countries and its contents have more than 325,000 visits. Hunger for Experiences was awarded prizes at the Tour Film Fest, in Bulgaria; Tourfilm Riga, in Latvia; New York TV & Film Awards, in the United States; Das Goldene Stadttor, in Berlin, Germany; US International Film & Video Festival, in Los Angeles, in the United States; at the Silafest, in Serbia; Terres Travel Festival, in Tortosa, Spain; Turizm Filmleri Festivali, in Cappadocia, Turkey; International Tourism Film Festival, in Viseu, Portugal; Amorgos Tourism Film Festival, in Greece; and Zagreb Tourfilm Festival, in Croatia.

The “Oscars” of tourism

The recognition of World's Best Film at the World's Best Tourism Film Awards, the so-called Oscars of tourism, awarded this year at a ceremony held in Vienna, was the grand finale to the international tour of the Deputación de Pontevedra's film, which participated in the final with 32 films from 14 countries. After receiving this award, the province of Pontevedra has become the only Spanish region to obtain a first prize in this important event.

A tribute to local producers with the participation of renowned chefs

The success of Hunger for Experiences served to achieve one of the major challenges of the Deputación de Pontevedra's Strategic Tourism Plan 2017-2020: the internationalisation of the destination Rías Baixas-province of Pontevedra to attract visitors all year round, not only during the summer months, as it has traditionally been. The excellent results obtained by the film on the festival circuit also served to promote the destination as a benchmark for gastronomy, which is one of the main elements of the plan.

The Deputación de Pontevedra's film was the main element of the campaign of the tourism destination Rías Baixas-province of Pontevedra in 2019. Hunger for Experiences is an emotional tribute to all the producers from the province, who, thanks to their daily efforts, take care of and supply an excellent raw material that is the basis of the province's worldwide renowned cuisine.

Chef Pepe Solla, whose restaurant has one Michelin star, and Amaranta Rodríguez, maître and co-owner of the two Michelin-starred restaurant Culler de Pau, are the narrators and main characters of the film, which also features other great chefs with a star, such as Xavi Olleros, from Culler de Pau; Yayo Daporta, from the restaurant that bears his name; and Rafa Centeno and Inés Abril, both chefs at the restaurant Maruja Limón. The three minutes and fifty-seven seconds of the film show closely the everyday work of people working in different sectors who obtain the best products from the sea and the land in the province.
