Would you like to visit the Soutomaior Castle, but you have not had the chance to do it yet? Or do you already know it but want to relive its most important events?

If you want to immerse yourself in its history without leaving home, now we are giving away a copy of the book The Soutomaior Castle, a Place Full of History, by Diego Piay and edited by Alvarellos. It contains information, anecdotes and stories of the nine centuries of history of this unique fortress.

You can choose among the Galician, Spanish or English version of the book. The rules to participate in the raffle are very simple. You only have to follow the website "Castillo de Soutomaior" on Facebook, comment on a post mentioning the person with whom you would like to visit the fortress in the province of Pontevedra when restrictions are over and "like" this post.

You can participate until Friday, February 5th, at 12:00 (noon), and check the raffle rules here: (link)

The Deputación de Pontevedra and Editorial Alvarellos release this bookwhich gives an account of the history of this fortress from the 12th century to the present day. It also includes more than one hundred photographs and documents, such as illustrations and maps, many of them unpublished. The back cover includes an engraving by Carmen Babiano Méndez-Núñez.

Although it is not the oldest book about the history of the castle, as the first was written by María Vinyals in 1904, it is the only one that gives a full account of the history of the castle until today using all available research sources.

Besides the historical evolution of the Soutomaior Castle, in this work you can delve into issues such as the ghost story, the chapel doors, Sorolla's painting of StGeorge and the Dragon or about the time when Alberto Dopazo and Eugenio Carlos and Hostos y Ayala owned the castle. It also includes stories about famous visitors who came to the fortress and turned the castle into a political and cultural centre in the 19th and 20th centuries.
