The Ulla River flows for 130 km through a traditional Galician landscape with fields, footpaths and some pazos (traditional manor houses), such as Santa Cruz de Rivadulla or Oca (boasting impressive gardens). There are several historically significant bridges on this route, which offer views of the riverbanks from another perspective, as well as cascades, like the 25 metre-high cascade of the Toxa River, which is connected to the Monastery of Carboeiro via hiking trails.

Features
Native aquatic flora and fauna The Ulla-Deza river basin is where most of the salmon in Galicia are found. The reservoir of Portodemouros makes the Deza River a great place to find them, as many large salmon swim up this river to spawn. The trout, lamprey, plaice and eel are the most environmentally and economically important fish species of the area. There are different birds and mammals as well, such as the dipper, common kingfisher, grey wagtail, grey heron, otter, Pyrenean desman and badger. There are some peregrine falcon nests near the mouth of the Toxa River too.
Located in The river defines the border between the provinces of A Coruña and Pontevedra and is part of the municipalities of Vila de Cruces, Silleda, A Estrada, Pontecesures and Catoira. Native terrestrial flora and fauna The oak is the most common species in the Ulla river basin, although due to human action there are few trees now, mostly located on the riversides and some other inaccessible areas. Gorse covers the treeless hillsides and the range of colours provides an attractive backdrop in nearly any season. The riparian forest has alders, ashes, birches and willows.
