Trivia Popular belief says that this Virgin exercises supernatural powers over the mad and the infirm. Consequently, every year thousands of people come to Loson, looking for the miracle to rid their body of the meigallo. It was said that in the mass of San Xoán, if a person had the devil inside them they would faint and begin to scream, the priest would perform a kind of exorcism to cleanse their soul and the devil would leave their body Origin and history Tradition has it that midway through the seventh century there was a hermit who was very devoted to the Virgin and who was treated as a saint and lived in a cave on the Carrío Mountain. Years later, locals found his incorrupted body among some bushes close by, and the chapel was therefore constructed there. But with the invasion of the Moors, the Christians had to abandon the place and the chapel ended up being knocked down. Midway through the 12th century, some children herding cattle witnessed the sky turn cloudy suddenly, until it was completely covered. According to the legend, fear led them to seek refuge amongst the remains of the chapel, and as soon as they entered “they were struck by a light that did not seem to be of this world”, wrote Vicente Risco. The Virgin appeared before them immediately, with a bunch of flowers in her right hand. The appearances were repeated until they became famous throughout the region Itineraries and main events during its celebration Procession of the Virgen del Corpiño- Descripción del entorno: Rural
