Pazo da Golpelleira
Avda. de López Ballesteros, 20Arealonga (Santa Baia)36600 Vilagarcía de ArousaPontevedra
This traditional manor house was built on top of an old medieval fortress, of which there are almost no remains left.
There is a new chapel on the site which is accessible from a corridor above an incredible arch over the gates. Inside the chapel there is an altarpiece with the Mexican Virgin of Guadalupe. The garden has a geometric French design and contains exotic palms, cedars, magnolias, camellias and tropical trees.
The building also includes an interesting historical archive, as Luis López Ballesteros (1782), one of the owners, was on the front lines of the War of Independence against the French, and this was the operations centre for the allied forces. He was also the Finance Minister during the reign of Ferdinand VII.
