Sobreirais do Faro
This is the first private Site of Natural Interest in Galicia. It contains a cork oak forest along the Broi River, which mixes with other native tree species at several points. It is located 200–300 m above sea level, in an area where visitors can enjoy incredible panoramic views over the Atlantic coast. It is the westernmost Mediterranean forest in Europe.

Features
Native aquatic flora and fauna Amphibians include the Iberian frog (Rana patilonga), Perez's frog (Pelophylax perezi) common toad (Bufo bufo) and the gold-striped salamander (Chioglossa Lusitanica).Native terrestrial flora and fauna The cork oak (quercus suber) dominates the area, but the common oak (Quercus robur) and sweet chestnut (castanea sativa) are also present, as well as the bay tree and the butcher's-broom. Shrub stratum and gorse can also be found in the area.
In terms of fauna, invertebrates consist of the stag beetle and the great capricorn beetle. Vertebrates include the gold-striped salamander, Iberian painted frog, common toad, ocellated lizard, Bocage's wall lizard, Iberian wall lizard, southern smooth snake, ladder snake and grass snake. Some of the mammals are the wild boar, fox, hedgehog, rabbit, red squirrel, wood mouse and shrew. Birds include the Eurasian wren, nightjar, European stonechat, dunnock, common cuckoo, European turtle dove, short-toed treecreeper and coal tit, among others.
