Castiñeiras and visit to the burial mound Mámoa do Rei

Castiñeiras Lake is located between the municipalities of Vilaboa and Marín. It is a natural space created in the 50s, which has green areas and also a great variety of fauna. Not far from there, we will find the megalithic ensemble Chan de Castiñeiras, which will take us back in time. The burial mound Mámoa do Rei is the most remarkable element of the ensemble. Since it is well preserved, it is easier to appreciate all its greatness.

Eating oysters in Arcade

After a busy morning full of activities, there is nothing better than a special meal to re-energise ourselves. Not very far from the peninsula of O Morrazo, Arcade welcomes us with a monument dedicated to its signature dish, oysters. They are typically eaten raw and they are said to be an aphrodisiac.

Viewpoint of A Peneda

We begin our afternoon activities in a special place: the viewpoint of A Peneda and its 17th-century chapel. Here we will admire the coastal inlet Ría de Vigo from a bird’s eye view. Rande Bridge or Cíes Islands are some of the main spots that can be seen from the top. A view to remember.

Stop in the parish of Ponte Sampaio

Through its 10 arches, this medieval bridge tells us about the ups and downs of the battle that took place in this very same place in the estuary of the Verdugo River during the Peninsular War on 7th and 8th June, 1809. This battle marked the end of the French occupation of Galicia.

Visit to O Ulló salt pans

This salt pans began being exploited in the 17th century. Now turned into marshlands, its fauna and flora are of particular interest. The ruins of an old farm, used by servants and the homeowners at the time, are also preserved. A unique, must-seen spot.
