Start the day with a stroll around the beautiful park of Castrelos and the French Baroque gardens of the Pazo Quiñones de León, dating from the late 19th century. The museum boasts an important archaeology collection.

You can go up to the fortress of O Castro to get a panoramic view of the coastal inlet Ría de Vigo and then visit the shopping area of O Príncipe. Explore the lively arcades of the old town to have an aperitif or have some tapas at any of its restaurants or at O Berbés’ gastronomic market. 

Near the old port of the city of Vigo, there are several cobblestone streets full of life. There, it is still possible to see the old fishermen's houses. Today, this area has a large number of tapas restaurants that use local products.

This is a must-visit to understand the human relationship with the sea. It is located in an old fish cannery, which was restored by the architect César Portela, and includes the remains of the pre-Roman hillfort settlement castro Punta de Muíño. It also has a small aquarium and is very close to the beaches.

The main feature of this site, which dates back to the 4th and 5th centuries AD, is that it is the only Roman villa in Galicia that has been completely excavated and open to the public. Moreover, it is located by the sea.

One of the main attractions in Vigo is to enjoy the stunning sunset at the beaches of O Bao or Samil. There, you will enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world as the sun hides behind the Cíes Islands. 

Start your route walking along this promenade which surrounds the fortress of Monterreal, an old defensive medieval building that has now been turned into a luxury historic hotel. The well-preserved walled complex overlooks the port of Baiona or the Atlantic Ocean.

The old town of Baiona was declared Historical and Artistic Site in 1993, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the Arribada Festival. Stroll around its charming streets to have something to drink before lunch or buy a handmade souvenir.  

You should not miss the opportunity to visit a typical tavern and taste any of the local products obtained in the rías. If you want more elaborated dishes, you will also find a wide range of restaurants offering dishes prepared with fresh produce from the sea and the farm.

Baiona was the first port in Europe to learn about the Discovery of America. In the museum, you will find a replica of the famous ship, which was adapted to provide information about the history of Christopher Columbus and his travels.

The architect Antonio Palacios created this magnificent statue of the Virgin in granite on the rocks of the Sansón Hill, which was inaugurated in 1930. In her hand, she holds a boat-viewpoint that offers beautiful views of the Baiona Bay and the coastal inlet Ría de Vigo.

Your trip ends on the promenade of Panxón, in the town of Nigrán. Nearby is the church Templo Votivo do Mar, also by Antonio Palacios. It is dedicated to the Virgin of Mount Carmel and Saint John the Baptist and is one of the few examples of Visigothic art in Galicia.
